A good organization typically exhibits the following symptoms :
- Transparency: The transparent system provides equal opportunity to every individual to grow but a bias system kills talent. There shouldn’t be any hidden policy and agenda in a system for a good working environment. The Google, Microsoft, Tata, IBM etc. have excellent working environment and transparent system. That is why Mr. Sunder Pichai and Mr. Satya Nadela became CEO of Google and Microsoft respectively.
- Appreciation/ Felicitation of employees:The appreciation is like a power booster for employees. A leader should appreciate to his subordinates in their good work in front of the other colleagues but in other hand don’t criticize in front of others. The felicitation of deserving employees must do in time to time for motivation and encouragement, which develops loyalty and trust toward the organization.
- Healthy work environment:Healthy work environment is like a lungs of an organization. Every employee take enough breathe in healthy environment and make organization vital and vibrant. Develop ethical and positive environment so everyone works for the organization and not for themselves without any personal greed. When each employee works for one vision then force of synergy generates affluence in the system. Also develop friendly environment so employees feel ownership toward organization and do not considered themselves as worker.
- Leadership:The leader is the driving force of an organization. A smart and confident leader makes the system vibrant and vital. The selection of leader is most important for a team. Appointment of leader should be in merit basis, not in favourism basis. The leader should inspire to his team by his achievements and nurture to his subordinates.
Once the Alexander the Great said that “I am not afraid of the army of lions led by a sheep but I am afraid the army of sheep led by a lion”. This implies that a leader is the backbone of the system.
- Empowerment of Employee:An intelligent leader always distribute task according to employee skill/ expertize/ experience. The proper task distribution among the employees not only make system vital but also empower them and organization getting desire outputs. The organization should not compelled to any employee to perform such a task, which is not suitable to his profile and self-respect.
- No Favourism:A good organization doesn’t encourage favourism culture in offices. Due to favourism sometimes, an incompetent person may become leader of the team and it wouldn’t favourable for organization. Because an incompetent leader don’t appreciate and give credit to his staffs for their good work and take whole credit himself in front of superior. That may lead to dissatisfaction in the team. After some time talented/ skilled employee start searching a new job for himself and definitely skilled employee get new job. One by one all skilled employees may leave the organization. Now incompetent and flatterer employees would remain in the organization. Just think in whole scenario, who is in big loss, that leader or his superior or that employee. But in my perspective, only one person will wear the loss of skilled employee. Who is none other than the owner of the organization?
- Exit Interview: The exit interview is as important as job interview because this is a way HR can analyze, where organization has lacuna and dissatisfaction among employees so they are leaving. This practice helps to improve the lacuna of system as well as help to create better working culture and environment in the office. An organization should remember following statement given by Entrepreneur Richard Branson.
“Train your employees enough, train them so much, so that anybody can pay them double salary of what you are giving them. Treat them well enough so they don’t want to leave”
